After the mysterious disappearance of an oil well owner, one of his workers, Gerardo (’Jorge Negrete’ (qv)) assumes the business management. Soon, the owner’s sister (’Libertad Lamarque’ (qv)) arrives from Argentina, and, believing that Gerardo killed her brother to keep the wells for himself, she starts working as a singer under a false name in the same casino her brother disappeared, in order to find out what exactly happened.

Colloquially-told story of a few days in the life of Marieta, who’s saving money for the last operation in her change from man to woman. She works as a prostitute in Madrid and longs for a legitimate job. Whenever she builds up her savings, her housemate and best friend Tomás finds ways to spend, lose, or cost her those funds. She meets Raúl, whom she likes and who likes her; the trouble is he also likes that part of her she wants removed. If that’s not enough, she also has narcolepsy, and when she conks out, she dreams of musical-theater numbers in which she’s the singing and dancing star. Are these dreams always going to be 20 centimeters out of reach?

Three young women - Deena Jones, Effie White, and Lorrell Robinson - desire to become pop stars and get their wish when they’re picked to be backup singers for the legendary James “Thunder” Early. Then they’re set free for leads, but Curtis Taylor and Effie’s brother C.C. decide for Deena to be lead which upsets Effie.

Berke is devastated when his girlfriend Allison kicks him out. She takes up with cocky Striker, who claims fame as a singer, and the two of them audition for the school’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” musical. Berke follows suit, much to the annoyance of his basketball team buddies Felix and Bentley. Our hero finds himself not only in the play but eventually as one of the leads, partly due to help from Felix’s sister Kelly. As First Night approaches, questions need answering - Will Berke and Striker come to blows? Can Bentley take over as the lead dancer? Isn’t Kelly nicer than Allison anyway?

In the depths of the 1930’s, Annie is a fiery young orphan girl who must live in a miserable orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Her seemingly hopeless situation changes dramatically when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy munitions industrialist, Oliver Warbucks. Quickly, she charms the hearts of the household staff and even the seemingly cold-hearted Warbucks cannot help but learn to love this wonderful girl. He decides to help Annie find her long lost parents by offering a reward if they would come to him and prove their identity. However, Miss Hannigan, her evil brother, Rooster, and a female accomplice, plan to impersonate those people to get the reward for themselves which put Annie in great danger.
